It delves into the detailed motifs and patterns that characterize this ancient art form, while guiding participants through the step-by-step process of creating their own Saathiya artwork.  Each design is like a captivating maze puzzle. Learning this art enhances spatial reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of pathfinding and obstruction techniques, all while fostering creative thinking in crafting intricate designs. Ideal for beginners and art enthusiasts alike, this session provides an in-depth exploration of India’s rich artistic heritage.

Supplies List

Short Grain White Rice – 2 lbs Cotton Cloth – Preferred color is dark brown (alternatives include dark red,  maroon, or navy) - Suggested fabric: Waverly Inspirations Cotton Solid (1 Yard Cut) from Walmart Wood Board or Stretched Canvas – Minimum size of 12*12 inches (The base board  can be any size, but 12*12 inches is the minimum) - Suggested board: Unfinished Wood Art Panel Pack by Artist's Loft™ Necessities™ PREPARATION BEFORE THE WORKSHOP:  Stretch the fabric tightly over the board and secure it in place.

H. Jain is a celebrated Saathiya artist from a family of artisans who have long preserved this rare form of Gujarati/Jain folk art. Driven by a deep passion to share the culture and traditions of her religion, she chose to follow the path of teaching.  As a committed educator, she leads workshops to sustain this tradition, inspiring young people to connect with their heritage and nurture their creativity through this art.
