What Kathithians are saying...
I have been enrolled in Bhatt Sir’s second batch for almost an year, moderated by Supraja ma’am. This experience has been nothing short of wonderful immersion into the art and science of Shilpa shastra. Sir has hand-held us from day 1 starting with basic patra patterns that would invite even a complete beginner. Yet his teaching style introduces varying levels of complexity- thus engaging students at all levels to excel regardless of their previous experience and time commitments. If you are a complete beginner or someone who is already well versed in the arts- regardless each class will surprise you with new learnings and continuous growth in your skills and perspective of the ancient Vedic art taught in Shilpa shastra. Especially at this time of India’s culture and heritage revival that is beginning to take over the world, I would highly invite those interested to take up Bhatt sir’s class as he is a living encyclopaedia and a polymath given his varied yet deep insight and practice of drawing and sculpting. Sir also supplements our theoretical learnings with historical evidence of how these teachings were implemented in ancient temple architecture via examples of images he has personally taken during site visits, sculptures he has personally carved and drawings he has personally drawn. Of course all of this knowledge is delivered with much humour and care so that at no point do we feel over whelmed- yet we take in more of this knowledge with every passing class and quarter. Supraja as moderator has been extremely vigilant to ensure all our queries are resolved as we advance in the course and the content is available to us for review in the best format via screenshots as well as recorded class videos. Moreover, we have a WhatsApp group for further support where we get to see each other’s work and learn collectively. Supraja is also personally there for each student to motivate us and also ensure we do not go off track and stay focussed to build our foundational understanding strongly. This ensures that as the course advanced, with a strong foundation the student is ready to assimilate more complex learnings that are yet to come. Combination of Bhatt Sir and Supraja is most valuable. Thus ensuring we are provided with all the necessary course format, techniques and guidance to learn and better ourselves- and emerge as confident learners of Shilpa shastra art.

I feel blessed to have Bhat Sir as my Shilpasastra guru for the past year. He has been a fantastic teacher, always ready to answer our (simple or complex) questions during our sessions. The way he provides examples and encourages us to pause, reflect, and develop our designs has been incredibly helpful. As someone who had never drawn human figures before, I now feel confident in my understanding of human anatomy. All credit goes to Bhat Sir for making this possible. Furthermore, he always brings in examples from actual temple sculptures to enhance his teachings, which has been invaluable in transforming two-dimensional concepts into three-dimensional artwork. I hope to learn a lot from him about Shilpasastra.
